Jewel on the Lakeshore
Opened as a vaudeville stage in 1921 and subsequently turned into a movie house, the Capitol Civic Centre has since been restored to an elegant 1,000+ seat performance venue that serves as the performing arts hub of the lakeshore.The restoration undertaking was spearheaded by Ron Kaminski with the commitment of many community members, craftsmen and organizations.

Sputnik IV Crash Site
On September 5, 1962, a chunk of the Russian satellite Sputnik IV crashed into the middle of North 8th Street, bringing the space age directly to Manitowoc. The impact location is marked with a brass ring. Located just in front of the Rahr West Art Museum. Some locals believe it's good luck to make a wish while touching the ring.
